Overview

Dr. Alex Ramirez-Serrano is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and is the Founder and Director of the . His general research surrounds unmanned vehicle systems, mobile robotics, humanoid robotics, and control and navigation. More specifically, Dr. Ramirez-Serrano focuses on the development of highly maneuverable aircraft for operations inside highly confined spaces such as those encountered inside collapsed buildings, mines, and beneath tree cover. His work includes control, navigation, and motion planning of new aircraft concepts including hybrid airplanes for operations inside GPS-denied spaces. As well, he works on the development of supersonic portable drones, and artificial intelligence mechanisms to enable aircraft to perform acrobatic flight maneuvers at zero translational speed.
