Alumni Spotlight: Audrey Taylor Bereznicki BA'12 (French), BA'12 (Anthropology), MBA'18

Arts alumni are an accomplished crew. They have great advice for students and fellow graduates, and know that arts degrees teach skills that are sought-after in the professional environment.

Audrey is the Associate Director, Alumni Engagement, with ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ Alumni. Early in her career, the unique world of nonprofit work provided opportunities for her to develop new skills and continuously take on more responsibilities as the volunteer coordinator for Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. Audrey recently completed her MBA with the Haskayne School of Business, is on the lookout for another volunteer opportunity in the Calgary community, and has admittedly been bit by the entrepreneurship bug!

What is your favourite ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ memory?

My favourite ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ memory is really the time I spent in Tours, France on a 9-month study abroad. I learned a great deal about myself, and about who I want to be during this time.

What was your favourite campus hang out spot?

TFDL!

If you could give one piece of advice to a student completing the same degree that you did, what would it be?

Pay attention to developing strong analytical, problem solving, and writing skills during your anthropology degree. When you can bring those to the workplace with your understanding of people, you enter as a team member who can navigate human dynamics and build consensus to complete projects with success.

How has your career evolved?

I’ve worked hard to take my interests and my skills to the career marketplace. I started in a small nonprofit, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, and was able to take on responsibilities beyond my years of experience, which truly accelerated my learning and personal growth. After moving to the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ Alumni team I started my MBA because I wanted to build on the skills I developed during my undergraduate degrees (I also have a BA in French).

What is the best thing about your job?

I love talking to people! I get to go out and meet with fellow alumni in the community to understand who they are, what their interests are, and what their goals are. I meet some incredible people and I get to help them find their place in the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ community.
