This travel study program provides students the opportunity to experience ancient Greece “up close in personal”, while receiving credit for two GRST courses: Sport in the Ancient World and The History of Early Greece. The sites you will visit represent the most important examples of the visible culture of ancient Greece from the Bronze Age to the Classical period. Course content will give a broad overview of the topography, archaeology and history of ancient Greece, focusing particularly on the great historical sites of mainland Greece. Every major site – and many minor ones – will be explored paying attention to their physical setting, architectural and historical significance, and their position in the political, religious and social lives of ancient Greeks.
