Winter lasts eight months out of the year. Why not take advantage of fun activities around the city and make some memories?

If you enjoy the outdoors, check out the right here on campus. You can find all the gear you need to go ice climbing, snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding. Speaking of, you can take advantage of to do some snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

For those who have never been skiing or snowboarding, try out Ski Canada’s . For just $25, you get a beginner lift ticket, a group lesson and equipment rental at Mount Norquay in Banff or the Lake Louise Ski Resort.

If you prefer staying indoors, pick up a library card. It’s free and you can access thousands of e-books, audio books, movies and so much more online. Or make a day of it and hang out at the Central Public Library downtown. It’s quick ride on the C-train and there are two in-house coffee shops.

You could also check out , a three-week arts festival which runs Jan. 8 - 26. You’ll get to see touring performances from across Canada, international show and new work from local artists. The shows take place all over downtown from the +15s to the basement of the Calgary Tower.
