The latest edition of Canada's premier pharmacology text has been updated by two 草莓污视频导航 Nursing faculty members. Drs. Kara Sealock (EdD) and Cydnee Seneviratne (PhD) were approached by Elsevier, the publishers of the Canadian edition of Lilley鈥檚 Pharmacology for Canadian Health Care Practice during the summer of 2018, and asked to assume editorial leadership and authorship of the guide鈥檚 fourth edition.

鈥淏etween the two of us, we have extensive acute medical/surgical and critical care nursing practice, as well as clinical and teaching experience that spans over 20+ years,鈥 says Sealock, adding that the pair have valuable experience teaching students in clinical and classroom settings as well as in laboratory and simulated learning environments.

鈥淥ur primary foci has been in foundational nursing knowledge, including acute and chronic medical/surgical information pertaining to pathophysiology and pharmacology,鈥 Seneviratne says.

The publication covers the key pharmacology content needed by today's Canadian nurses. Along with a unique key drug approach that focuses only on the drug information needed to safely and effectively administer drugs, there is exam preparation and learning strategies, designed to help one succeed in school, clinicals and professional practice.

The project took approximately two and a half years and will be ongoing as multiple editions are published over the next 10 to 15 years.

New research related to medications and gold standards of care continue to evolve as well as changes in law, such as the legalization of cannabis,鈥 Sealock adds.

鈥淚t is important for nurses to remain relevant to practice and meet the needs of the community, which includes addressing the requirements of The Truth and Reconciliation commitments.鈥
