Nominations for 2021 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Awards now open
The events of 2020 have highlighted the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion in our society.ÌýWithin the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½Â community, individuals and groups are making a difference in this area.ÌýÂ
The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OEDI) is pleased to announce nominations for the 2021 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Awards.ÌýThese annual awards acknowledge the efforts of faculty, students, staff, and units that are taking steps toward creating an equitable, diverse, inclusive, and welcoming climate for everyone at the university.ÌýStudents, faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and all units are invited to submit nominations from now until Dec. 2.ÌýÂ
The awards competition is open to individual or group accomplishments and initiatives.ÌýWinners will be selected for awards in four categories: student, faculty, staff, and department or group. Â
Award nominations recognize outstanding achievement in a practice, event, applied research, policy, program, or other activities that foster equitable, sustainable and measurable change for those who traditionally have been under-represented on campus, including women, visible/racialized minorities, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community. It can be ongoing work, or an outstanding accomplishment at a point in time.Ìý
Examples include:Â

A faculty strategic plan and action program that embeds a commitment to the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion.Ìý

An ongoing action, initiative or program that helps students from an under-represented group feel welcome and included.Ìý

A tool or practice that provides accommodations for an equity-seeking group, such as  increased accessibility for people with disabilities, or one that is designed to address racism.Ìý

An initiative or action aiming at adapting or changing procedures, policies, or practices to make them fair or more inclusive.Ìý

Fostering inclusive excellence in achieving diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.Ìý

Exemplifying leadership in fostering an inclusive campus.Ìý
