A “Pawsitive” start to the new year for Chinese Language Students
Students in CHIN 207 of the Chinese department, in the School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures at the ݮƵ were invited to a celebration of the Year of the Dog on February 16th, 2018. The event allowed students to learn about Chinese New Year’s with a variety of activities.
“Despite the small budget and space available, the Chinese New Year party was a success! There were lots of fun activities, mainly arts and crafts, that not only provided us with entertainment but also taught us about Chinese culture.” - Micaela
“The SGL Chinese New Year event was a great way to de-stress during the busy midterm season. The many activities and crafts were fun including the calligraphy and dragon puppet making” -Allison
“I am so happy I had an opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year on campus. I did Chinese calligraphy and I really enjoyed it! Wang Laoshi was a pro at it!” -Amy
Activities included dragon puppet making, lantern riddles, and calligraphy writing. A big thank you to Mirabelle Jien, Emily Sam and of course to Professor E-mei Wang, who helped with the supplies and setup of the event.
