Professor cited in SCC decision
Professor Alice Woolley's research has been cited in the SCC's decision on Groia v. Law Society of Upper Canada.
In 2012, a discipline panel of Ontario鈥檚 legal regulator found Groia guilty of incivility for displaying a 鈥渃onsistent pattern of rude, improper or disruptive conduct鈥 in the courtroom during the early part of the trial of his client, former Bre-X Minerals executive John Felderhof. The Supreme Court's decision, which was released on June 1, 2018, cited two pieces of Alice's work: 鈥淒oes Civility Matter?鈥 (2008), 46 Osgoode Hall L.J. 175 and Understanding Lawyers鈥 Ethics in Canada, 2nd ed. Toronto: LexisNexis, 2016.
