University Innovation Quarter (UIQ), formerly known as University Research Park, will soon undergo a physical transformation to become a dense, mixed-use innovation district, which includes the potential combination of commercial, retail, and residential concepts.

The revitalization will support and strengthen the process and acceleration of innovation. UIQ is located adjacent to the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½â€™s main campus with an existing ecosystem of startup companies, science, technology, research companies, and more. Many students and faculty members who frequent the Brentwood LRT station also walk through UIQ.

The revitalization of UIQ will provide more opportunities for dynamic clusters of like-minded research and innovation to thrive — energizing the potential to increase research and discovery, all in one place.

UIQ is an innovation hub with an unmatched location. The area, spanning 76 acres, has a vision to further support ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½â€™s innovation agenda, generate job growth in Calgary, and promote economic diversification.

²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ Properties Group (UCPG) is the developer leading the revitalization with an exceptional reputation developing the award-winning community of University District. As part of the redevelopment process, a master plan will be submitted to the City of Calgary outlining the proposed vision and strategy for development including infrastructure, transportation, open spaces and more.

The project team is currently in the early stages of this process. Previous public engagement sessions were held in the spring to help inform the initial plan concepts that will be presented to the public this month.

Upcoming public engagement sessions on Sept. 27, 28, 29

Students, faculty, staff and volunteers are invited to review and provide feedback on the initial plan concepts, as an integral part of ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½â€™s innovation ecosystem.

UCPG is hosting a series of public engagement sessions to collect feedback before the master plan is submitted. Stakeholder engagement and transparent communications are an integral part of the master plan process and the feedback collected at these public engagement sessions will inform the future of UIQ and have a lasting impact on ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½.

Get involved by attending a public engagement session to review and provide feedback on themes such as transportation, built-form, open spaces and more.
