About the speakers

Dr. Karen MacMillan, PhD, R. Psych, holds a PhD in counselling psychology, and she has been a registered psychologist in Alberta since 2003. Karen is an executive co-director at Foothills Academy, and an adjunct clinical assistant professor in the Werklund School of Education at the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½. She is actively involved in advocating for individuals with learning diabilities and ADHD, including on the board of directors for the Centre for ADHD Awareness Canada (CADDAC), the Professional Advisory Committee for the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC), and the Executive Committee of the Calgary Region LD & ADHD Network.

Dr. Michael Lee Zwiers, PhD, R. Psych, is an adjunct assistant professor in the Werklund School of Education at the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½. He completed graduate degrees in educational psychology and counselling psychology, after which he pursued two years of postdoctoral training in clinical psychology. Dr. Zwiers specializes in the assessment and treatment of attention disorders, learning disabilities, anxiety, mood, and autism-spectrum disorders across the lifespan. He has an interest in clinical diagnosis, and trains students and practicing professionals. Dr. Zwiers currently works in private practice at Lighthouse Psychology Services and has developed an adult ADHD intervention group (More Than Just Making Lists), which is run through the Canlearn Society. He also has ADHD.

About the moderator

Community leader and Calgary journalist Deborah Yedlin was elected the 14th chancellor of the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½, effective July 1, 2018. Yedlin has been observing, commenting and writing about business and politics for more than two decades, as a journalist for the Financial Post, Globe and Mail and Calgary Herald.
