Note: Students have the opportunity to take courses offered by the Haskayne School of Business without the stated prerequisites, with the written permission of the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) as appropriate, upon the recommendation of the Instructor of the course. However, should a student fail to achieve satisfactory standing in any course for which the stated prerequisite(s) is (are) lacking, he/she may be required to successfully complete the stated prerequisite(s) prior to being permitted to repeat the course. Students are required to have consent of the Haskayne School of Business Office before registering in 600-level courses offered by the Haskayne School of Business.

Introduction to Petroleum Land Management

Petroleum land management including both technical and economic considerations in the search for and development and marketing of oil and gas resources. A field trip and/or simulation exercise may be required.

Prerequisites: Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce program, second year standing and Business and Environment 395, or holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent or consent of the Haskayne School of Business.

Note: One half course in Geology is recommended but not required. Until December 15, preference in enrollment is given to students who are registered in the Bachelor of Commerce program and have declared a Petroleum Land Management concentration.

Introduction to Oil and Gas Agreements

The concepts of ownership in the Canadian oil and gas industry, including Crown and freehold leases, basic oil and gas agreements, and assignment documentation.

Prerequisites: Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce program, second year standing and Business and Environment 395, or holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent or consent of the Haskayne School of Business.

Corequisites: Petroleum Land Management 375.

Prepare graduates to effectively contribute to the management of oil and gas properties throughout the life of the properties by increasing the understanding and awareness of corporate resource property valuation techniques.

Prerequisites: Third year standing, Petroleum Land Management 375, 377, and 473, and Business and Environment 395.

A "Hands on" case approach to the typical situations and decision-making processes faced by landmen. Historical perspectives, contemporary tactics, and modern applications for Land departments.

Prerequisites: Fourth year standing, Petroleum Land Management 375, 377, 473 and 483.

Corequisites: Petroleum Land Management 479.

Note: Not open to students with credit in Strategy and General Management 559.17.
