Building a Healthy and Safe Campus for All
The Risk Portfolio are excited to be hosting its sixth annual Safety and Wellness Week from September 14-18 2020.
Safety and Wellness Week is an opportunity to celebrate and revitalize the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ community’s strong health and safety culture, it engages students, faculty and staff and includes activities to highlight the programs and initiatives driven by the Risk Portfolio .
Given the current situation regarding COVID-19 and in the interest of keeping our ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ community safe, all events and activities will be conducted remotely.  Â
Monday, Sept. 14
Personal Safety Awareness Training
10 - 11 a.m. | Online
Emergency Management will be teaching strategies to help you effectively respond to threats and active assailant situations. Everyone has a part to play in keeping our campus safe, whether you are a student, a faculty member, or support staff. In this presentation, recent changes on campus due to COVID-19 will be discussed, providing an overview on topics such as ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ COVID19 Re-entry Protocols, Campus Face Coverings Protocol, cleaning and disinfecting, and the revised emergency evacuation instructions.

Guest Speaker | Dr. Sellmer -Â Sleep and Mental Health
12 - 1 p.m. | Online
Dr. Rory Sellmer, MD, FRCPC Psychiatry, Clinical Assistant Professor and Alumnus of ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ will discuss the impact of inadequate sleep on physical and mental health and the role of sleep hygiene in improving sleep. He will review the physiology and evidence related to sleep and provide participants with practical strategies to address sleep issues.

COVID-19 Ergonomics - Temporarily Working From Home

Staff Wellness will be delivering on online training session that will review available resources related to working from home, provide recommendations to help manage work and life demands and offer solutions for your workstation setup.

Building Resilience Through Connections
1 - 3 p.m. | Online
Staff Wellness will be delivering an online course designed to help staff and faculty identify healthy coping strategies in response to common stressors. It highlights the importance of social supports, caring communities and the resources available to employees at the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½.

Guest Speaker | Ronaye Coulson, Psychologist, Homewood Health -Â COVID-19: Strategies for Managing Stress

This online session will explore all aspects of the stress response, focusing on practical tips and tools to bring us to optimal stress levels, thereby helping us to maximize our energy and performance in the face of COVID-19.
