15-30 seconds/leg

  • Stand on a single leg with slight bend at knee and hip
  • Both partners hold the same stick (horizontally) with two hands
  • Slight elbow bend
  • Maintain balance while resisting movement from partner and simultaneously trying to throw partner off balance
  • Keep chest upright
  • Excessive force from partner that pushes the athlete too far off balance that they cannot recover, or that causes the athlete to be in an unsafe position
    • Educate partner about the importance of safety of teammates
    • Pair players of similar sizes/strengths together
  • Stiff knee
    • Cue "Slight knee bend"
  • Folding forward at the hips
    • Cue "Proud chest"
  • Shoulder activation and stability
  • Trunk strength and stability
  • Prepare body for contact
  • Develops ankle stability
  • Develops knee control
  • Challenges the vestibular system (information about the body's positioning in space, contributing to balance and coordination)
