Research Coordinator

Shane Esau

Shane joined the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre in 2015 as a research coordinator.  Shane comes to SIPRC with over 15 years of experience as an Exercise Physiologist with Paralympic Sport.  Shane has worked with Paralympic athletes from sports such as ParaSwimming, ParaNordic, ParaCycling and Goalball. His knowledge in the area of disability is very good for a physiologist.

Shane’s main focus over 2015-2017 will be to coordinate and manage research aimed at determining the effects of an exercise program with individuals with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Cerebral Palsy, and Early Onset Stroke. Shane has a Master of Kinesiology degree from the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½, with an emphasis on Coaching Science and Exercise Physiology. Shane also has experience as a research coordinator; previously working with Dr. Brian MacIntosh in the area of muscle physiology and muscle fatigue.

Shane has also worked teaching and lecturing various components of Human Physiology and Sport Sciences while at the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ and to numerous coaching classes.

Shane thoroughly enjoys watching (and sometimes participating in) numerous sports. When not watching (or participating or coaching) sports, he likes to spend time with his family and spending time in the Okanagan tasting wine.
