About:
Provides social services to individuals and families based on the Jewish values of compassion, social justice and improving the world. Individuals and families coming to JFSC receive holistic care, meaning that all of the clients’ issues are addressed simultaneously to the best of the ability of the agency. Clients do not need to be Jewish to use the services provided.
Services:
- Basic Needs: Financial assistance to individuals and families who cannot find the necessary resources anywhere, assistance to prevent homelessness, and the Kosher food pantry
- Counselling: Family and couples therapy, adolescent issues, domestic violence, mental health, including anxiety and depression
- JOLT (JIAS Opportunities Leadership Training) Program: Aims to develop and utilize leadership talent from the Russian speaking Jewish community
- Senior Services: Outreach workers provide support to seniors in various settings: home visits, visits in hospitals, long-term care facilities, one-on-one meetings at the office
- Vocational Support: Valuable support to newcomers and to members of the Calgary community in developing skills in their job searches
