Yamnuska Hall
LEED Certified
Green Building Highlights
Completed in 2011, Yamnuska Hall houses 596 students throughout the academic year. With a variety of apartment style dorms, lounges and recreation rooms, the LEED Certified building acts as a home for many students as they complete their studies.
Irrigation
Instead of pop-up sprinklers, the landscaping surrounding Yamunska Hall is equipped with drip irrigation. This system allows water to be directly delivered to the roots of a plant, avoiding water waste from overspray, evaporation and wind. In addition, the irrigation system uses recycled water, coming from ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½'s Central Heating and Cooling Plant.
Building Shape
The H-shaped building allows for operable windows in each resident suite. This design gives every resident a connection to outdoor views and natural daylight, which is known to help improve well-being and comfort. The operable windows contribute to energy efficiency by providing free cooling and ventilation.
