Navaid Aziz

Navaid Aziz

Navaid Aziz is a Canadian Muslim public figure with a diverse academic and social background. He completed an Associate's Degree in the Arabic Language and a Bachelor's in Islamic Law at the Islamic University of Madinah. Upon returning home to Canada, Navaid began teaching at the Al-Maghrib Institute. He has since transitioned to their Director of Public Relations. Currently, Navaid is the Director of Religious and Social Services for the Islamic Information Society of Calgary. Navaid is also the first Muslim Chaplain with the Calgary Police Services.

Istame鈥檃 is the Arabic word for 鈥淟isten鈥 and that鈥檚 exactly what the podcast is all about 鈥 listening to the stories shared by other queer Muslims. The new series provides a safe space for LGBTQI+ Muslims to share their experiences and discuss topics such as coming out, their relationship with their faith and dealing with a stigma of shame. All episodes are aimed at providing advice and guidance for anyone who is on a similar journey or facing the same challenges.
