Project Creation and Maintenance
Project Maintenance will process the project request form once it has been reviewed and approved by . Project holders will receive an email notification once the project set up is complete.

Research Grants or Contracts
Once a research grant has been awarded, or an industry contract has been signed, a project request form will be required to create a new project. Research Services initiates the project request form for grants and contracts through the Research Services office. For external awards not managed through the Research Services office, a project request form must be completed. can help identify if a project needs a request form.
Project request forms are not required for awards provided by major sponsors with established administrative arrangements with the university. These projects are set-up upon receipt of the sponsor's notice of award, and if all necessary certifications are in place (i.e. Tri Council Awards).
To facilitate the set up of a new project, please ensure following information is provided:
- Completed project request form
- A detailed budget
- All signatures
Non-Research Projects
When funds are awarded to a project holder where the funding source is restricted and the purpose can't be categorized as research, the following information is required:
- Completed project request form (in drop-down menu for project creation, maintenance and compliance)
- All relevant agreements and/or award notices
- A detailed budget
- All signatures
Project Request Forms
Complete a project request form when:
No Arrangement
The sponsor does not have an established granting arrangement with the university.
Not initiated
The sponsorship request was not initiated by or pre-authorized by the university.
More detail
The sponsor's notice of award requires more detailed information.
Existing project
A sub-project within an existing project is required.
Project Requests
A project request form needs to be completed in most situations. The form is recommended when:
- The sponsor does not have an established granting arrangement with the university. Please note that projects for awards made by major sponsors with established administrative arrangements with the university are opened automatically upon receipt of the sponsor's notice of award, and if all necessary certifications are in place (i.e. Tri Council Awards).
- The sponsorship request was not initiated by or pre-authorized by the university
- The sponsor's notice of award requires more detailed information
- A sub-project within an existing project is required
