Courses constituting the field of Astrophysics
Required Courses - Major Program

Students must successfully complete a minimum of 60 units to a maximum of 66 units in Courses Constituting the Field of Astrophysics while fulfilling the following requirements:

3 units - Physics 211, 221 or 227

3 units - Physics 229

3 units - Mathematics 211 or 213

3 units - Mathematics 265, 275 or 249

3 units - Mathematics 267 or 277

3 units - Chemistry 201, 203, 209 or 211

3 units - Computer Science 217 or Data Science 211

9 units - Astrophysics 307, 401, 403

24 units - Physics 341, 343, 355, 375, 381, 443, 449 and 455

6 units - Two of Physics 481, Astrophysics 503 or Astrophysics 509

9 units - 400- or 500-level from the Field of Astrophysics

Recommended Program Sequence for the BSc in Astrophysics

This sequence describes both the recommended order in which courses should be taken and the recommended course(s) in instances where multiple courses may fulfill a degree requirement. Taking courses in the order of the will ensure students can complete their program in a timely fashion. The time to complete a program may be lengthened if students choose to complete their requirements in an alternate order.
