Indigenous Curriculum Grant

Apply for a grant of up to $10,000 to advance Indigenous Engagement and Indigenous Perspectives in curriculum development.

Grant Guidelines

The Office of Indigenous Engagement, with support from the Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) and the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning, will be providing funding to help academic programs working on Indigenization of curriculum through innovative land-based learning and inclusion of Traditional Knowledge and Knowledge Keepers.


1. Eligibility

Applicants must be a ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ Academic Staff member and continuously employed by ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ for the duration of the proposed grant. (Academic staff member employed by the University holding an academic appointment: continuing, limited term, or contingent term).

2. Proposal Submission

Applicants must submit the application form by 11:59pm January 31, 2025. The Office of the Vice Provost (Indigenous Engagement) will acknowledge receipt of proposals via email by March 7, 2025.

3. Rights and Permissions

Activity or annual reports may be shared for reporting purposes both internally and externally in relation to the Indigenous Strategy ii’ taa’poh’to’p.

4. Copyright

Any submitted material must comply with ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ copyright regulations. This includes videos, images, music etc. To learn more about copyright compliance, please visit .

5. Adjudication

A selection committee will be appointed by the Vice Provost (Indigenous Engagement) to review all project proposals and evaluate their alignment to the principles and recommendations of ii’ taa’poh’to’p and potential impact on the campus community with respect to intercultural capacity building.

6. Ethics

If the project proposed includes the collection of information or data from people for research purposes, then ethics approval may be required.  If this is the case, please attach a copy of the ethics application, followed by proof of ethics approval. 7. Grants

Successful applicants will be announced on March 25, 2025.  Each project can receive up to $10,000. Grant funds for successful applicants will be available as of April 1, 2025. Projects must be completed, and funds expended by July 1, 2026.  Any unspent funding from the grant shall be returned to the Office of the Vice Provost (Indigenous Engagement) so that it may be reallocated to the next grant cycle. A one-year extension may be granted with rationale and program approval from Office of Indigenous Engagement.

8. Grant Recognition

Projects funded in part or in full by the ii’ taa’poh’to’p grant should be appropriately acknowledged in forthcoming marketing and communications materials, using approved University branding and ii’ taa’poh’to’p imagery.
