A.5.6.2 Indigenous Admission Supplementary Process

Students who do not meet the course requirements as outlined in section A.5.1.1. (High School Admission Requirements) or A.5.3.1 (Transfer Admission Requirements) or whose average is below consideration for the Indigenous Admission Process can be considered under the Indigenous Admission Supplementary Process. To be eligible for consideration under this process, students must:

  • Provide a personal statement in the format of the student’s choice (oral, written, video etc.) that outlines their educational goals and how their past education, cultural knowledge, life and work experiences will enable them to succeed in university studies.
  • Provide documentation to verify Indigenous identity.
A faculty specific admission committee will review all complete applications. Not all faculties may consider students for admission through this process.

Students who present all required courses including successful completion of ELA 30-1 and at least two additional 30-level approved courses (that may include one 30-level option) can be admitted directly to the program. For transfer applicants, Faculties may waive post-secondary required courses when completion of required courses can be accommodated within degree progression.

The following Indigenous bridging programs provide academic preparation and may consider students with courses at the 20 or 30-2 level. Upon successful completion of bridging program requirements, including the equivalent to meet the institutional requirement for English 30-1, students are guaranteed admission to the degree program.

  • A high school diploma is not required.
  • References may be requested at the discretion of the faculty admission committee.
