The Coal Association of Canada (CAC)

The Coal Association of Canada is pleased to announce the continuation of our combined scholarship/internship program for the summer of 2025. There will be two scholarships/internships awarded for 2025 - one for a trades student and one for an engineering student. The intent of the program is to award both a monetary scholarship directly towards post-secondary tuition as well as a paid internship combining practical field experience with an operating coal mining company or coal focused. 

Award description

  • Eligibility:
  • Must be a full-time student enrolled in a four-year program at an accredited post-secondary institution. Preference will be given to students graduating in 2026 or 2027 (i.e. second or third year students at the time of selection)
  • Pursuing a degree in mining-related field such as Mining Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a similar discipline relevant to the coal mining industry OR Be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited trades program applicable to coal mining operations, such as Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, Welding, Millwright, or Electrical
  • Must demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the Canadian coal mining industry
  • Must be a Canadian citizen
